Educational professionals always ensure that students get the proper facilities at school or any other academic institution. School leaders spend a lot of time planning and organizing various items to enhance the skills and knowledge of students. Along with the help of teaching professionals, school leaders also take care of the progress rate of pupils and that is judged based on their academic score as well as the development of their social and cognitive skills.

Education management and leadership course have a dynamic curriculum that guides school leaders, aspiring leaders, professional teachers, and other people who are planning to become school administrations. Education management refers to the set of actions and tasks in relevance to the application of the highest order of organization and effectiveness to use resources within to achieve the goals of the organization.

Educational leadership and educational management go hand in hand but there are basic differences between these two. Management, as the term portrays, deals with the execution of various rules and norms so that academic institutions work in order while leadership practices make sure if the procedures are on track and school staff along with teachers are working properly.

Education management and education leadership:

Leaders are successful people who have learned from their past mistakes, rectified themselves, and influence other people to accomplish tasks been assigned to them. Thus school leaders keep an eye on how teachers are doing their jobs and how the support staff in performing their tasks. They have faith in each and every employee of the school.

The philosophy, framework, and performances of the school are geared towards the achievement of tasks. Leaders are power and authority who ensure that communication among groups is clear. Educational leadership is defined as occurring when someone takes the initiative to facilitate certain conditions for implementing change in teaching and learning. They also must have encouragement to reflect on practice.

However, educational management refers to the application of strategies of management to the field of education or educational Institutions. Educational administration is a process of acquiring and allocating resources for reaching predetermined educational goals. There are 5 functions of educational management: Planning, organization, directing, coordination, controlling, and evaluation.

Differences:

  • Management aims at directing and controlling a group of people or entities for the purpose of coordinating and synching that group towards accomplishing a goal. Whereas, leadership influences others to do a task perfectly with uttermost care and dedication. Hence, school management keeps it mandatory that everyone should stick to the rules and execute their tasks accordingly.

  • Leaders love taking risks and always look for innovative and creative ideas in order to get a task done. They are extremely charismatic and are known as the best motivators. They can encourage people and know the right person for the right job, thus it becomes quite interesting that they can pull people out of their comfort zones. Teachers know the potential of their students and can motivate them to work hard to reach the target.

  • School management prefers an autocratic format of management where everyone will follow the rules and they do it so that everyone learns the discipline appropriately. They always consult with teachers before taking important decisions like formulating a school budget, organizing an event, recruiting new teachers, admission of students, etc.

  • However, whenever it comes to school leaders, they encourage the active participation of everyone. School leaders like the teachers, they never leave a room whenever they get a chance to make sure that students participate properly in any activity.

Goals of school administrators:

  • To train teachers and support staff to practice strategic techniques that promote a vision, mission, values, beliefs, and goals for 21st-century schools.

  • To provide the prospective teachers and staff members with the best instructional methods that result in an environment of accountability and high standards for all students.

  • To provide a study schedule that enhances teachers understanding of the role culture contributes to Institutes' performance, student learning, and the achievement of collective goals.

  • To nourish the skills of teachers to create an Institute professional learning community that empowers other teachers with distributive leadership.

  • To develop managerial leadership skills in budgeting, staffing, problem-solving, and communicating in order to meet the best needs of every classroom.

  • To facilitate the development of teachers and staff members’ external development leadership skills that will enhance parents' engagement, support, and ownership in the Institute.

Thus, leadership and management are two different aspects of schools and other academic institutions but they work together and make sure that institutions are running soundly. Every school of education believes in sane school leadership that enables highly interactive classroom sessions well as parental engagement. Education management and leadership courses provide the best guidance to every aspirant or professional working hard in order to become a successful school administrator to showcase their best leadership qualities.
